Overview

Nestled in the heart of Taman Daya, Johor Bahru, Tea Garden Taman Daya offers a delightful halal dining experience that artfully blends traditional dim sum and local flavors. The restaurant’s location at GF08, Jalan Daya 1 makes it a convenient haven for both locals and visitors seeking authentic Malaysian-Chinese fare in a warm, welcoming setting.

Tea Garden’s charm lies in its carefully crafted homemade dim sum. Standout dishes such as the fried radish cake adorned with a spicy seafood paste and the delicate steamed beancurd rolls showcase the kitchen’s skillful balance of texture and flavor. Each bite reveals fresh ingredients prepared with a respectful nod to classic Cantonese techniques, yet infused with unique local twists. The golden lava buns, with their rich, molten custard filling, provide a perfect sweet counterpoint to the savory selections.

Beyond dim sum, the menu extends to an enticing array of “little eats” that highlight regional tastes. The Char Kway—a savory stir-fried rice cake with eggs and dark sweet sauce—exemplifies the spot’s ability to evoke nostalgia while satisfying modern palates. Additionally, the kuih platter offers a colorful assortment of traditional Malay desserts, blending textures and subtle sweetness dramatically suited for a casual snack or dessert. Thai-style deep fried tofu and crisp French fries further diversify the options, appealing to diverse cravings without compromising authenticity.

The restaurant’s atmosphere complements its culinary offerings. The space is thoughtfully laid out, creating an inviting ambiance perfect for family gatherings, casual lunches, or a relaxed evening tea. The halal certification ensures that it caters to Muslim diners who seek quality food without compromising their dietary requirements, broadening its appeal within Johor Bahru’s multicultural community.

In essence, Tea Garden Taman Daya succeeds in delivering more than just a meal; it presents a culinary journey combining tradition, comfort, and an inclusive dining experience. Whether you’re a dim sum connoisseur or simply in search of hearty Malaysian-Chinese dishes served with care, this spot merits a visit for its authenticity and flavorful offerings.

First time trying, clean and lively ambience. Indoor seating can get noisy when is full house. Menu has extensive spread from Asian to Western cuisine. Prices reasonable too. We ordered 1) Tom Yam Chicken, honestly it didn’t taste like typical Thai Tom Yam, taste curry ish maybe that was intended 2) Thai fried chicken rice. Omg this was so delicious and we love the presentation of this dish with side salad and Thai tangy salad with little keropok! 3) Fried radish with seafood paste has very authentic kampung taste. A hint of Udang kering, it was simple and delicious. Plenty of parking at Taman Daya. Will come again with the children.

Tastewise, it’s consistent with other branches, nice and satisfying. The food was served in around 10 minutes. I came around 8.30PM, and it wasn’t too crowded, with plenty of empty seats available. The staff were friendly and helpful, and during my visit, there was also a promo package going on. Parking was not too difficult, and there are plenty of shopping options nearby. They don’t seem to have a toilet, but there’s a public one close by.

Love the place. Nice ambience, clean and neat restaurant. Good food, reasonable and affordable price. Staff very patient and accommodating when we said we wanted to change tables and we made last minute order for takeaway when last order has already closed five minutes before. Excellent service. Strongly recommended to others to come and eat here!

I ordered the nasi lemak and it was delicious. The fried chicken taste good and the sambal taste spicy (fits my expectation because I like spicy sambal). I think for people who can't eat spicy would not really like the sambal. The keropok added the texture and flavor which made the nasi lemak better. Nonetheless, the nasi didn't taste 'lemak', they probably didn't put enough santan. Overall, nasi lemak was 7/10. I tasted my friend's tom yam and the tomyam was good, the kuah tasted 'pekat' and enough flavour. For the few spoons I ate, I rated it 7.5/10. Btw the fries was good, I really loved it!! 10/10 :DDD About the atmosphere, the outdoor space were filled with few people who smoke which caused unpleasant experience for other customers.

Easy to find and many choices in the menu. I like the baked herb chicken with rice. Teh tarik also good. Big portion and price is reasonable. Will come back for other menus. Sea coconut a bit sweet to me. Prefer less sweet. The fried gyoza is delicious too.

Tea Garden Taman Daya impresses with delicious dishes like Curry Hour Fun and simple Cheese Toast. The service is top-notch, and the Manager's special treat added a nice touch. It's not our first visit, but the food remains as delicious as ever. A great spot for a satisfying meal!

Loved the food. Good variety. We had dim sum, rojak and some rice dishes. Their drinks are also very tasty and well balanced. If you are looking for some good quality good, breakfast, lunch or dinner, and don't mind paying a small premium. This is definitely the place.
